Welcome to the Team

The Start

On July 2nd, Beth Handorf was admitted to the Emergency Room at Jefferson Hospital in Abington, PA. On the following day, she was diagnosed with a glioblastoma tumor on her brain and immediately underwent emergency surgery where the team saved her life and removed about 50% of the tumor.

Our fight

No one ever expects to start a journey like this; when people talk about brain tumors, it’s always “heard about someone” or “it happened to someone else.” You never expect to be at ground zero. While we have been and will continue to navigate the emotional pain, we are exceptionally grateful for the love and support that has been volunteered.

We are using this website as a way to share our journey, and organize how help can be made for our family. We love you deeply, and appreciate every hug along this journey.

Our Communication Plan

Beth and Russ will maintain our journals on this website; this will help us streamline our sharing of what is going on for all those who are interested.

We request that you click here to make an account to view our posts. Once you request an account, Russ will have to manually approve it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I help ya’ll?

There is a website (https://peachteabear.cafe) that we are using to help manage and coordinate what we need and when, and for folks to volunteer their assistance. An account is required for this site.

Can I come and see ya’ll?

Absolutely, but please coordinate with Russ first. We are living a very fluid and dynamic timeline at the moment.

What is the current BLUF / TLDR?

Beth has had two brain surgeries, proton therapy and chemo. We just got great news of no viable tumor. 6 months of chemo is starting soon.

Why this site and process to help?

Because Russ is Russ, and is going to look after your privacy and ours at the same time. We also don’t like that other sites have poorer privacy policies and may scrape the content into a LLM.

How are the kids doing?

Maddie is well aware of what is going on and what this means; Logan is slowly figuring it out. We kindly ask that we don’t have discussions with what is going on within their earshot. We are looking to begin meeting with a family therapist.
